RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army has began a rescue operation in the Murree division and has begun evacuating visitors stuck on the tourist destination's snow-covered roads, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR, army soldiers are assisting the civil government in rescuing stranded tourists in Murree Division, while engineers from the Pakistan Army have also come to clear the key routes.
"Those stranded in the snow are being given with food and other essential goods," the military's media wing stated, adding that some individuals had been relocated to safer areas.

Earlier in the day, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that armed troops will be sent to Murree to rescue tourists after at least 19 people perished there due to constant snowfall and road closures.
Sheikh Rasheed added, "We have summoned five platoons of Pakistan Army foot forces, as well as FC and Rangers to clear the roadways."
After 19 fatalities, the 'Army has been summoned' to remove visitors from Murree.
He claims that 1000 automobiles are presently stranded on the roads leading to the tourist attraction.
Murree has also been designated as a disaster-affected region after a number of visitors perished from exposure to the cold, and hundreds of automobiles were stranded in the hill station. To keep the situation under control, the administration has prevented visitors from entering the Murree and Galiyat regions.
